Health – my tips from experience

I love trying new ways to feel better and be healthier so here are my proven tips for increased energy and health benefits.

Raised/inclined bed therapy

Raising the bed between 2 inches – 6 inches at the head end… I have read extensively on the subject and only have only managed 4 inches as the bed integrity wouldn’t stand it, I’m working on strengthening the bed to raise it higher but I have noticed a difference. It feels natural and I don’t get a groggy head in the morning, I noticed that I was more spotty than usual but this is due to detoxing. Read more peoples amazing stories of healing due to inclined bed therapy here. Buy bed raisers here.

I know it seems like something required for an old person and the place you buy raisers is usually for elderly but just ignore that and think how much better you could be feeling! Cattle/livestock will naturally sleep inclined on a hill if they can. More experiences here

Today my hubby and I rebuilt my bed, I have had mine on a 3 to 4 inch incline on the head end and have been sleeping on this incline for about 3 months. Now I have it at 6 inches which is quite a slope.

These two links are interesting. Here and here.

A friend has started on a 3 inch incline and has noticed that he’s not getting up in the night to go the toilet whereas he was needing to urinate at 3am. He looked very well I thought too!
Now he has been sleeping on a 6 inch incline and since then it has relieved a trapped nerve in his neck. He had been seeing a doctor about this problem but nothing had worked so he’s telling everyone about this remarkable yet simple technique! Also he still doesn’t get up in the night to urinate anymore so he has an undisturbed nights sleep.

FLUIDS

Drinking water… try drinking only water (with a slice of lemon or orange to give it a taste) for a month. I’ve been doing this and I feel I have more energy, I’m actually thirstier and I drink more – apparently that’s because most people are dehydrated – there’s even talk about people who are overweight, they are just thirsty! The body signals get mixed and people eat instead of having a drink of something (I used to do this) I find I eat less when I drink only water. At first you find you crave a sugary snack especially if you drink lots of sugary drinks, your body is not used to having a NON-SUGARY drink but that goes in time – don’t drink coffee or tea either, but you can have a herbal tea with no sugar or milk, say a camomile tea or mint…
When you get up in the morning consume 1 pint of water – this is also good for hang-overs but you shouldn’t be drinking alcohol of course when you try this for a month!! :) If you are used to sugary drinks you will detox from the sugar. Actually when I drink that pint of water, I do it in two half pints it’s not so daunting! Feel your body expanding, filling cells with pure life giving sustenance – our bodies are so used to having to filter everything we drink it’s not used to straight forward clean water – just imagine what is in most drinks:

Coffee and tea – milk, sugar, caffeine – this has to be filtered and broken down by the body, many british people drink only tea and coffee so imagine how much work the body has to do, no wonder we have so many health problems…

Sugary fizzy drinks like Coca-cola – enormous amounts of sugar raising your sugar levels can cause you to crash and need more sugr as a pick-me up – vicious circle – plus caffeine, sodium benzoate, colourings and flavourings – all this your body has to deal with. Diet drinks are even worse – see the Diane Fleming story about aspartame – a toxic poison… it also gives wrong signals to the body, it thinks it’s getting sugar but it isn’t! Hang on – this is sweet lets break out the chemicals to deal with this… but there is no sugar…
Alcohol – this is a poison, your body is not equipped at all to deal with this! We make our bodies do a lot of work to filter and get rid of this so binge drinking is a real strain on the body and I don’t think I know one person who doesn’t drink on a regular basis at least 2 drinks a day, be it beer or a short with mixer when they get home from work… I don’t drink anymore – it doesn’t go down well, people think I’m strange but I don’t wake up in the morning feeling bad or groggy and that’s worth it’s weight in gold.

We are all thirsty! Would love to hear from you if you try these health giving methods. Read more from a free book!

SPROUTING SEEDS

Grow your own sprouts! I don’t mean the Brussels variety (well they’re good too) but sprouting seeds like alfalfa, lentils, mung beans, white radish etc. This is classed as a ‘Superfood’. Each little seed has enough nutrients for it to grow, essential vitamins and minerals locked inside waiting to be used. When the seed is allowed to grow to the sprout stage and then consumed by us in it’s raw state we receive into our bodies superior nutrients that we don’t normally get from our cooked foods, cooking kills essential nutrients. When you eat them you know you are eating totally fresh raw food that is so good for you.

…Sprouts are rich in natural plant enzymes which are so vital in maintaining proper digestion and out total health. Enzymes are perhaps the most vital ingredient in our food but sadly are woefully deficient because of cooking and processing. Raw sprouts provide a plentiful source of this much needed nutrient… Sprouts have such a complete nutritional profile as to allow us to live on them and nothing else, particularly alfalfa – it’s so abundant in all the vital nutrients to keep us healthy that according to Victoras Kulvinskas in his book Survival into the 21st Century, if we had to live in an underground shelter and could take only one type of food with us, our number one choice would have to be a supply of alfalfa seed and fresh water… taken from The Sprouters Handbook by Edward Cairney.

COCONUT WATER

Drink coconut water taken from young green coconuts. I’ve been drinking Zico Coconut Water as it has no sugar or additives in it but did you know that for more than 4,000 years, coconut water has been revered as a natural source of nutrition, wellness, beauty and hydration. In times of famine and war, coconut water has been used as an intravenous fluid and saved many lives. It’s the only natural substance that can be safely injected into the human blood stream. I can say from experience that you feel IMMEDIATELY REFRESHED when drinking it, it has more potassium than a banana and contains essential electrolytes making it the ideal sports drink. Coconut Water Hydrates the Body

Coconut water is an isotonic solution which replaces the fluids and minerals that the body loses during physical activities. For this reason, many athletes and persons who work out regularly are encouraged to drink coconut water to replace all the minerals and fluid that they lose while working out. Even the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) attest to the benefits of drinking coconut water when it fought for a patent in 2000 to market coconut water as the next big sports drinks.

Coconut Water Relieves Urinary Problems

If you consume coconut water on a regular basis it can reduce urinary problems. People who suffer from strangury, polyutra and other urinary ailments drink coconut water to relieve their symptoms.

Coconut Water Kills Intestinal Worms

Drinking coconut water with one teaspoon of olive oil for three days will kill intestinal worms and clear the stomach of worms, which makes for better digestion.

Coconut Water Breaks up Kidney Stones

People who have kidney problems and are plagued by kidney stones should drink coconut water in addition to taking their medication. Drinking coconut water regularly helps to break up kidney stones making them easier to push out.

Coconut Water is Used in Blood Transfusion

Coconut water is almost identical to blood plasma and this makes it easy to use for blood transfusion. In cases of emergency coconut water has been used as an intravenous hydration fluid instead of the standard IV fluid. During World War II many wounded soldiers were saved in the Pacific because of emergency transfusion using coconut water as plasma.

Coconut Water is an Antibacterial

Coconut water contains monolaurin, an antiviral, antibacterial and antiprozoal monoglyceride that is used to kill lipid-coated viruses such as HIV, Herpes, cytomegalovirus, flu and various pathogenic bacteria.

Coconut Water Controls Vomiting

Coconut water is great at reducing vomiting. People who have typhoid, malaria, fevers or other ailments that are known to induce vomiting drink coconut water to settle the stomach. As such, coconut water is also a good thing to drink during a hangover.

The Hay Method of Food Combining

This diet has been knocking around for decades and was a nutrition method developed by Dr.William Howard Hay in the 1920′s. It’s based on separating the food groups into acid and alkaline types, the main idea was not to mix carbohydrates and proteins in one meal. It’s also known as the Food Combining Diet although I don’t like the word diet, it automatically switches the brain into starvation mode! I have been following this method on and off for 10 years – it wasn’t so easy to follow when we lived in a motor-home as we tended to buy pre-cooked meals from Tescos that you could just shove in the oven. My health suffered badly at this time, I felt like every mouthful was just loading me with problems for later.

“Any carbohydrate foods require alkaline conditions for their complete digestion, so must not be combined with acids of any kind, as sour fruits, because the acid will neutralise. Neither should these be combined with a protein of concentrated sort as these protein foods will excite too much hydrochloric acid during their stomach digestion.” – Dr. Hay, How to Always Be Well

For example, for dinner tonight we had Thai Chicken but instead of surrounding my chicken with rice, I surrounded it with cauliflower! My hubby turns up his nose… but I have to say it sits so much better. It’s not heavy and I feel like it’s going through the system so much better. I must admit I generally only follow this for the main meal as I eat little and often during the day.

Following the simple rules of the Hay Diet can reverse chronic and degenerative conditions such as constipation, indigestion and arthritis. It can be beneficial to asthma and allergy sufferers. It can also stimulate natural weight loss, thus reducing the health risks linked to obesity, such as diabetes, gallstones and coronary heart disease. Many people, including celebrities such as Sir John Mills and Princess Diana, have benefited from following the Hay Diet.

It seems that this food combining method has the least problems associated with it, no nausea or headaches and is recommended by many physicians.

THE HAY RULES FOR HEALTH

Starches and sugars should not be eaten with proteins and acid fruits at the same meal.

Vegetables, salads and fruits (whether acid or sweet) if correctly combined should form the major part of the diet.

Proteins, starches and fats should be eaten in small quantities.

Only whole grains and unprocessed starches should be used and all refined and processed foods should be eliminated from the diet.

Not less than four hours between starch and protein meals.

Milk does not combine well with food and should be kept to a minimum.

Eyes

Pinholes are not new. It is believed that they were first conceived by a scientist named Scheiner in 1573. More recently, the U.S. Patent Office awarded Patent No 1959915 for ‘lensless spectacles’ to a Mr Charles Guthie of Pittsburgh on May 22nd 1934.
They were then described as ‘a device for perfecting impaired vision’ by means of ‘an opaque disc having the entire surface provided with a series of circular holes’. Smooth lens pinhole glasses were developed in 1999.

- little tiny perforations on a plastic sheet that fit in the place of lens. This corrects vision defects and enables the image to appear clear – I don’t have a strong prescription and I have one odd shaped eye which throws my focus out so I have to wear glasses all the time. It’s very useful to use them for periods of time when working on computers as it reduces eye strain/stress and I often use them even when reading books – they come with eye exercises you do every day to strengthen the eye muscles combined with periods of wearing the pinholes during the day. In the literature it explains that with regular use coupled with the eye exercises you can gradually decrease your prescription. I haven’t yet been disciplined enough to try this but I might very soon!It takes a while, praps 5 mins, to adjust to them and not see a chicken wire effect.

Please let me know if you have tried these glasses and found a difference. It advisable to buy the con glasses as they fit the shape of the eyeball – flat pinholes are not effective but more stylish!

Standing to lose billions of pounds in sales of eyeglasses and contact lenses by the potential popularity of pinhole glasses, powerful organisations of optometrists and opthalmologists did everything they could to keep them out of the hands of the public. The fact is that while pinhole glasses could never completely replace prescription lenses as a means of vision correction, a substantial percentage of people who are fitted with eyeglasses would be just as well off with a pair of pinhole glasses, a one time purchase. However, a patient once fitted with a pair of glasses is almost sure to become a regular customer, as their eyes weaken and they need to come back for a pair after pair of stronger lenses. It is a truly lucrative business.
To ensure pinhole glasses would never become popular, optometrists regularly ridiculed any notion that pinhole glasses were a legitimate form of vision correction.
